Japan at Your Own Pace: Comfortable Tours for the Whole Family
From young children to grandparents, we ensure everyone experiences the beauty of Japan together. Our "Easy-Access" tours are designed for comfort, minimal walking, and a stress-free pace.
Travel That Brings the Family Together
We know that traveling as a large family can be challenging in Japan. Historic temples often have steep stairs, and train stations can be overwhelming.
It can be really hard to find an elevator in the train station, and when you finally do, it seems that everyone is waiting for it, and it will take 30 minutes to get everyone and the suitcases to wherever you would like to! It may also be that every one has families of their own, and are getting together this time to enjoy in Japan, and there are dietary restrictions to take note of, everyone moves at a different pace, and may be interested in different things.
We started our inclusive tour service to bridge that gap—providing a way for different generations to explore together without anyone feeling left behind. The private van that you are thinking of booking is the perfect private space for everyone to bond, have a break (till the next stop) and create memories together!
Accessible Sightseeing Across Japan Whether you are navigating the busy streets of Shinjuku in Tokyo, exploring the traditional temples of Kyoto, or visiting the deer in Nara Park, we know the best ways to get around.
In Kyoto: We avoid the steep slopes of Higashiyama where possible and find the best drop-off points for the Kinkaku-ji (Golden Pavilion) or Fushimi-Inari Shrine..
In Tokyo: We handle the logistics of Asakusa and Meiji Jingu, so you don't have to worry about the gravel paths or long walks from the subway.
In Osaka & Nara: We make it easy to see the Osaka Castle grounds and the Great Buddha in Nara with minimal walking.
Our itinerary planning team and driver will work together with you, and let you know where to return to the car, to reduce unnecessary back and forth with walking. This will allow you to save time, and maximize your day with us.
Stroller and wheelchair advice: Our drivers and guides (if you opted to have one for the day) are familiar with the places in your itinerary, and they will let you know when you get off the van if you should bring your stroller or wheelchair along with you. There are something gravel laden roads in Japan, and this would be difficult for you to push the stroller or wheelchair along.
Private van, a private space for you to rest: We understand that some one in your group may have a scheduled nap time everyday and you wouldnt want to disturb the routine. If you let our team know, we can work the itinerary around the nap schedule, or your family member can rest in the van whilst everyone else goes sightseeing. Treat the van as a safe place where you can rest and recharge till the next stop. Tip: It may also be hard to find seats in Japan. If you do not have a private car with you, and you have someone who is very tired and on the verge of breaking down, you would have to take a break in a cafe, or sit on the floor which is frowned upon in Japan.
Door-to-Door Convenience:
We pick you up at your hotel and drop you exactly where you need to be. No navigating crowded stations or searching for elevators with the whole family in tow.
A Pace That Suits Everyone: Whether you need a slow morning or frequent breaks for the kids or seniors, your driver is there to accommodate. You are never on a "tour bus" clock; you are on your own time, within the hours you have booked.
Supportive & Attentive Drivers: Our drivers pride themselves on being helpful and patient. Whether it’s assisting with a steady hand, managing heavy bags, or recommending a restaurant that is easy to enter, we look out for your family’s well-being. Our itinerary planners would also recommend some restaurants based on your interests and preferences and if reservations are required, we can help you reserve them before hand
Spacious, Low-Entry Vehicles: Our Toyota Alphards and Hiace Vans are chosen for their accessibility. With wide sliding doors, grab handles, and low steps, they are easy to enter and provide a quiet, comfortable space to rest between sights. We can also prepare a mid step for you if the first step of the Hiace van is too high.
Thoughtful Planning for Easy Access
We don’t just drive—we scout the best routes to keep your day enjoyable:
Flattened Routes: We prioritize sights with ramps and elevators, avoiding the famous "stairways" of Japan where possible. We will let you know in advance if the place you would be visiting has a lot of stairs and steps.
Strategic Drop-offs: We utilize the closest possible parking points to minimize walking distances to the best views.
Equipment Friendly: We have plenty of room for foldable wheelchairs, walkers, or strollers. Your driver handles all the loading and unloading.
Comfort First: We plan for clean, accessible restroom stops and quiet spots for refreshments throughout the day.
Planning Your Family Journey
We treat your family like our own. If you have specific mobility requirements or are traveling with multiple generations, please let us know. We will help you build an itinerary that is inclusive, respectful, and—most importantly—fun for everyone.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Absolutely. This is our specialty. We balance the day by choosing locations that offer something for everyone—for example, a temple with a beautiful view for the energetic ones, but our drivers can also bring the others to a nearby cafe for a break or the nearby drugstore for shopping. Japan Private Drivers focuses on Tokyo whilst our parent company TokudAw takes care of tours
-
Yes. While our vans do not have electric lifts, they are perfect for passengers who can transition from a wheelchair into a car seat with a little assistance. We have plenty of luggage space in our vans for foldable wheelchairs, walkers, and strollers (and your shopping!).
Our drivers are happy to help with the loading and unloading at every stop. In winter, it may be troublesome to put on and take off your coats and have them with you whilst your are shopping or eating, so you can leave them in the van! In summer, the van is the perfect place for you to cool down from the humid heat outside.

Japan can be tricky for dietary needs, but our itinerary planners are very familiar with the best spots. Whether you are in Osaka, Kyoto, or Tokyo, we can recommend and even help you reserve restaurants that cater to your specific requirements so that lunch is stress-free for the whole family.
Sometimes we will translate the menu and send it to you beforehand, so you can choose your meal and it would be prepared before you arrive. With more preparation beforehand means more time for you to enjoy the day.
-
Of course. Unlike a bus tour, you aren't tied to a rigid schedule. If a family member is feeling tired, your driver can suggest a quiet scenic spot to relax, or we can head back to your hotel early.
You are in control of the pace within the hours you have booked.
-
Yes, we provide age-appropriate child seats (infant, toddler, or booster seats) upon request to ensure the youngest members of your family travel safely and comfortably across Japan.
-
That is the best part of booking a private driver—you skip the stations entirely! We provide door-to-door service, meaning we pick you up from your hotel lobby and drop you right at the entrance of the shrines, museums, or parks.
You won't have to worry about station elevators or long walks through underground tunnels.
